\nWe\u2019re calling this the Shakedown Salad as an ode to Shakedown Street. Named for the 1980 Grateful Dead song of the same name, this iconic parking lot pop-up is the place to be for pre-concert food, drinks, merch, and camaraderie with other Dead Heads.<\/p>\n
Grateful Greens Shakedown Salad<\/h3>\n
You\u2019ll need:<\/em> Toss together and serve! A few tips to make your salad stand out:<\/p>\n 1. The secret to gorgeously curly carrot ribbons? A fresh ice bath. Peel your carrots and slice in half lengthwise with a chef’s knife. On the flat side, use a peeler to make long carrot strips. Place the strips in ice water while you prepare the rest of your salad \u2014 when it\u2019s time to plate and serve, they\u2019ll be nice and curly.<\/p>\n 2. We discovered something fun when playing around with purple cauliflower. If you hit the florets with a little bit of sunflower oil and some heat from the stove, the charred spots will turn vibrantly blue<\/strong>! For a cool tie-dye effect, keep some parts raw for a violet-and-blue look as you cook.<\/p>\n 3.
