Our\u00a0friends Tommy Werner<\/a> and\u00a0Ariel Lauren Wilson<\/a> did just that this past weekend\u00a0as an ode to\u00a0Brooklyn\u2019s Crown Heights neighborhood, serving dishes that lean into seasonal produce and\u00a0the\u00a0invigorating\u00a0energy that a new season brings.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past year and a half, Crown Heights’ gardens and public green spaces have been inspirations, gathering places, and refuges,\u201d they said. \u201cThey’ve helped keep us grounded, nourished, and connected.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To pull off your own garden party,\u00a0center\u00a0your menu around\u00a0the best fruits and vegetables of the moment, then\u00a0bring out their flavors with plenty of Gotham Greens basil.\u00a0Tommy and\u00a0Lauren\u00a0served\u00a0Fairy Tale Eggplant with vinegar-honey sauce and basil\u00a0and\u00a0Cornbread Panzanella with\u00a0late-summer\u00a0tomatoes, shallots and, yes, more\u00a0basil. How great does that sound?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To tie it all together, serve a\u00a0refreshing, crowd-pleasing drink that works for all ages:\u00a0Basil Limeade.\u00a0You\u2019ll start with an easy\u00a0basil simple syrup that\u00a0yields\u00a08 servings \u2013 perfect for scaling up or down based on your own garden party needs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Recipe: Basil Limeade<\/h5>\n

For the Basil Simple Syrup:<\/i>
\n– 1 cup water
\n– 1 cup sugar
\n– 12 Gotham Greens basil leaves<\/p>\n

For the Basil Limeade: <\/i>
\n– 1 oz Basil Simple Syrup (see above)
\n– 1 \u00bd oz fresh lime juice
\n– 4 oz sparkling water
\n– 2 Gotham Greens basil leaves, for garnish<\/p>\n

Instructions: <\/i>
\nFirst, make the Basil Simple Syrup. Bring water and sugar to a boil with 12 leaves of basil. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, then remove from heat. Let syrup cool for 30 minutes with the basil leaves. Strain and refrigerate. (Makes 8 oz.)<\/p>\n

Next, make the Basil Limeade. Combine 1 oz Basil Simple Syrup and the lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until the shaker gets cold. Pour into a tall glass filled with ice, top with sparkling water, and garnish with more basil leaves.<\/p>\n
